Merima has been appointed to build all the public areas and cabins on the new ferry

Merima, a company providing turnkey solutions for shipbuilding, has been appointed to build all the public areas and cabins, as well as large parts of the technical areas for the new ferry under construction for Kvarken Link.

“We are pleased to be working with Merima on the new Ferry. They are known for their state-of-the-art interior solutions for cruise and passenger ship, so we can be sure the quality of the interior will be good”, says Markus Backlund, Project Manager for the interior design, Kvarken Link.

“We are happy that we have been chosen to build the public areas of this new Ferry. This is a very exciting project for us as the first in which we are working together with Rauma Marine Constructions in the new partnership model. Wasaline have achieved impressive success over their relatively short existence so far, and we are very glad we can help to shape the next chapter in their story”, says Mikko Mäkiranta, Deputy CEO of Merima.

The construction of the new ferry for Kvarken Link has started at the Rauma Marine Constructions shipyard and it will replace the existing Wasa Express in traffic in the spring of 2021. It will be operated by Wasaline and sail between Vaasa in Finland and Umeå in Sweden.
